Introduction

While books in an electronic form have been around for a while, this guide is to help you through the idiosyncrasies of the three main collections offered by the BSC Library.  We currently have access to around 120,000 titles.  Each collection has different search pages, software requirements, viewing options, and check-out conventions.  We urge you to look at the tabs for the collections you are interested in searching.

Here is a short summary of the features of each:

eBooks:

  • Access options: eBooks on EBSCOHost, BSC Library On-Line Catalog (Wireless & BSC dorm users, be sure to see note at bottom of the eBooks tab).
  • Viewers:  Online and off-line proprietary viewer
  • Download/save options:  A check-out option, download usable for up to seven days.
  • Mobile and e-book reader options: yes, see eBooks tab.

ebrary:  

  • Access options: ebrary search screen, Central Search.
  • Viewers:  Online and off-line proprietary viewer.
  • Download/save options:  Books may be saved to your Bookshelf, no download options.
  • Mobile and e-book reader options: none at this time.

Springer:

  • Access Options:  BSC Library On-Line Catalog.
  • Viewers:  Online and PDF viewer.
  • Download/save options:  Books may be downloaded as PDF files.
  • Mobile and e-book readers options:  Anything which will handle PDF files.
